Festool Domino size chart
Every beech Domino tenon in Festool's 2024 US catalogue, which joiner cuts it, and how deep to rout. Festool makes the system, so its catalogue and its Domino user manual are the authority. Sizes are thickness × width × length in millimetres, as Festool gives them; the thickness is also the cutter diameter.

Routing depth
Festool's manual says to set the routing depth to half the tenon's length in most cases, so the tenon sits centred in the joint; the column above is that half. If one mortise is shallower, the two together must still add up to the tenon's length.
- DF 500: depth stops at 12, 15, 20, 25, 28 mm. With the 5 mm cutter only 12, 15 and 20 mm are allowed, because its shaft is short.
- DF 500 with 4 × 20 mm tenons: Festool's special 4 mm cutter is shortened by 10 mm, so set 20 mm and it cuts 10 mm.
- DF 700: any depth from 15 to 70 mm. The manual calls 14 × 100 mm the largest standard tenon; 14 × 140 needs the full 70 mm in each piece, which it explains as a separate method.
Mortise widths
The joiner can cut the mortise to the tenon's width for a tight fit, or wider so the joint can slide while you line it up. The width is the cutter diameter plus:
- DF 500: 13 mm, 19 mm, 23 mm (tight, then about 6 and 10 mm of play).
- DF 700: 13.5 mm and 16.5 mm (tight, then 3 mm of play).
Festool gives the DF 500's range as 4 × 20 to 10 × 50 mm and the DF 700's as 8 × 40to 14 × 140 mm, so the 8 and 10 mm tenons up to 50 mm long fit both. More on the joint: Festool Domino and loose tenons.
